Yerba Mate Iced Tea
If you hate drinking black coffee in the morning, then yerba mate could be just what you’ve been looking for! I LOVE yerba mate. Like, a fuck ton. Get the recipe that I drink in lieu of coffee almost every morning here.
Again, if you don’t like drinking black coffee, this is an ahhmazing alternative…
This South American tea has more caffeine than green tea, and nearly just as much caffeine as coffee. It REALLY wakes you up. Without the jittery anxious feelings of coffee.
It’s also full of antioxidants and amino acids and is known for its ability to help aid in weight loss. To read more about why Yerba Mate is super freaking awesome, check this out.
You have two common options: individually prepared tea bags or the loose leaf tea, which requires straining it yourself. (Note that the tea is ground very fine and filtering doesn’t work well with a traditional metal strainer, I typically use a coffee filter or paper towel).

Sparkling water (optional with essential oils or lemon)
I drink bubble water nearly every single day during intermittent fasting. In addition to just being a fun drink, the carbonation can also help with satiety.
I have a soda stream, so I can make my own sparkling water. I can’t even imagine how many bottles and money I’d be wasting on store-bought sparkling water. I always add a couple of drops of lemon or orange essential oil for taste. It’s so good, and something I always look forward to during my fast! Alternatively, you could also add a slice of lemon or lime.
Store-bought sparkling water is also okay though, so long as you aren’t consuming any calories.
Zevia Soda (or any diet soda)
Confession: I have spent way to much money on this soda. It’s just that good! And no, I am not getting paid to say that. (I wish, even then, I highly doubt it would even come close to making up for the amount of cash I’ve spent on these…) Stevia is totally good to have during a fast, since it doesn’t increase insulin, and the sodas are calorie free. This soda is a great treat and can add some fun flavor during your fasting period.
Any other diet sodas (that are zero calories) are also okay as well. Just make sure to avoid anything with maltodextrin and sugar alcohol.
Tea
Tea is such a yummy way to keep fasted! Teas are probably the most well-known intermittent fasting drink, and there is good reason! Not only is tea a delicious alternative to water; most teas have additional health benefits. Chamomile is great for its calming properties, while green tea is known for its metabolism boosting properties.
If you love multi-tasking like I do, then tea is a great option. Why not enjoy a yummy beverage while simultaneously boosting metabolism?
Electrolyte water
Drinking electrolytes are great to have during a fast. While fasting, the body easily becomes depleted of electrolytes. Replenishing it with a sugar-free, zero-calorie electrolyte drink is both a wise and delicious idea.
Ultima Replenisher is my absolute favorite brand. They are all-natural & free of dyes (unlike most of the traditional brands). Plus, they are SO tasty and come in all kinds of flavors!

Apple cider vinegar is great to have to help enhance your fasting. ACV is known for its ability to regulate appetite and increase metabolism. Why wouldn’t you drink it during your fast?
To get the most benefits from apple cider vinegar, be sure to purchase raw-unfiltered ACV. This type of vinegar contains proteins, vitamins, and prebiotics that would otherwise get filtered out of a traditional vinegar.
To make the apple cider vinegar drink mix:
- 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- stevia to taste
- a large glass of water
