The Ultimate List of Store-Bought Keto Candies

August 20, 2020 by Katey

Halloween is coming! Okay, maybe not quite… As I’m writing this it is still August… I guess I should wait a little bit longer to break out those Fall decorations??

I don’t know about you, but I love Halloween. Except it’s also centered around something that is SO NOT keto-friendly… You know exactly what it is… CANDY!

The thing is though, there are A TON of keto-friendly candies to choose from! In all honesty, I love my keto candies 1000 times more than any traditional candy.

Check out this roundup of great store-bought keto candies to satisfy your sweet tooth & Halloween cravings!

Sweeteners to Avoid

When reading any label while doing keto, you always want to avoid all natural or processed sugars. That should be pretty easy, there should be a sugar amount on whatever label you are looking at. But, there are also some “sugar-free” sweeteners that are not keto-friendly as well…

Even though these sweeteners are sugar-free, they still have a high glycemic index, which is something you want to avoid on keto. (For comparison, note that table sugar has a glycemic index of 63.) The artificial sweeteners to avoid or limit on keto are:

  • Malitol (Glycemic Index: 36)
  • Xylitol (Glycemic Index: 13)
  • HSH (Glycemic Index: 35)
  • Maltodextrin (Glycemic Index: 110)

A warning to dog owners: Xylitol is the literal worst if you have a dog. I don’t even allow it in my house. (Luckily for cat owners, they seem to be spared). But even just a little bit of xylitol could be deadly for your pup! Though small amounts will not throw you out of ketosis… To me, it is SO NOT worth risking a dog’s life.

List of Keto Sweets:

Lily’s Sweets

Lily's Sweets Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups 3.2 oz pouch

Lily’s has all kinds of yummy chocolate items from candy bars, chocolate chips, peanut butter cups, and chocolate-covered nuts! My all-time favorite is the salted caramel chocolate bar. Check them out on Amazon, here. Or save money by getting them through Thrive Market, here.

Lily's Sweets Stevia Sweetened Caramelized & Salted Milk Chocolate Bar 2.8 oz bar

Lily’s Sweets Stevia Sweetened Caramelized & Salted Milk Chocolate Bar 2.8 oz bar

Lilys premium, stevia-sweetened Extra Dark chocolate bars are made from the finest ingredients, including Fair Trade Cocoa. There is no added sugar, though youd never know it. They are certified gluten free, Vegan, and Non-GMO. Lilys is 25% lower in calories than dark chocolate thats sweetened with sugar, and it tastes fantastic.

Smart Sweets

SmartSweets Sweet Fish 1.8 oz bag

I always have a few bags of these stashed in my kitchen. I highly recommend the peach rings! Smart Sweets makes all your old classic gummy candies, but without all the nasty sugar and food dyes! They are the perfect guilt-free treat.

I buy these on Thrive Market. But you can also get them on Amazon, here.

Enjoy a bag of SmartSweets plant-based candy, Sweet Fish.

JoJos Guilt Free Chocolate

JOJO's Chocolate Guilt-Free Chocolate, Peanut Butter Delight 7 bars (1.2 oz each)

I love JoJo’s chocolates! They have super clean ingredients and some seriously killer chocolate! I might never have tried them had Thrive Market not sent them to me as a freebie! JoJo’s tastes more “natural” than most chocolate bars, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t satisfying & delicious AF.

You can check them out on Amazon, here. Or save money through Thrive Market below… (plus you get a free $22-gift when you sign-up through my link)!

JOJO's Chocolate Guilt-Free Chocolate, Peanut Butter Delight 7 bars (1.2 oz each)

This delightful snack from JOJO’s Chocolate will satisfy your sugar cravings while delivering 6g of protein per serving. Each bar is made with premium German chocolate and non-GMO peanut powder.

Choc-Zero

ChocZero: Sugar Free Chocolate. No Sugar Alcohols. Keto Friendly.

Choc-zero makes chocolate, chocolate bark, chocolate chips, syrups, and more. In terms of keto chocolates, Choc-Zero and Lily’s probably tie in terms of popularity.

My favorite choc-zero product would have to be the chocolate syrups! Check them out on Amazon here.

Kiss My Keto

Keto Dark Chocolate - 4 Pack

Kiss My Keto is a company that makes all kinds of keto specialty products. Including chocolate and gummies! You can check out their website here.

SlimFast Keto Fat Bomb Snacks

Keto Caramel Nut Cluster Fat Bombs only 2g Net Carbs

SlimFast even has its own keto-friendly candies! You will not be disappointed by their fat bombs! I LOVE their caramel nut clusters. They also have chocolate peanut butter cups, mint cups, and caramel cups! Yum!

Check them out on Amazon here.

Brands to avoid or limit

Tom & Jenny’s (these contain xylitol)

From what I have seen and heard, Tom & Jenny’s treats do not contain enough xylitol to throw you out of ketosis and spike blood sugar. Of course, it probably depends on how much you of these candies you eat… These treats should be eaten in moderation. BUT if you have a dog, I wouldn’t even risk it, even small amounts of xylitol can be deadly to our doggos.

Atkins (these contain malitol)

I used to eat these all the time when I first started keto. Little did I know they were throwing me out of ketosis, and increasing blood sugar. It’s a total bummer because they have a lot of snacks, and used to be my fave!

Russel Stover (these contain malitol)

These sugar-free treats also contain malitol. Although I have not tried these myself, I have heard from many of my keto friends that upon testing their ketones they were in fact not in ketosis after eating these.
