The only ultra caffeinated drink better than coffee (and better for you!)

Few things in life are better than coffee. Yerba mate iced tea comes pretty dang close. For one, it tastes great and has a ton of caffeine. If you are looking for a delicious alternative to coffee, this sugar-free yerba mate tea recipe is for you!

Did you know: coffee typically has 95 mg of caffeine in a cup and Yerba Mate has 85 mg of caffeine in a cup. That is pretty forkin’ close you guys…

On top of all this, mate is well-known for its ability to wake you up, without all the nasty jittery anxious feelings that are often associated with drinking coffee.

Plus, yerba mate is rich in various antioxidants and nutrients. It has even more antioxidants than green tea! It also contains 7 out of 9 essential amino acids your body needs! Like what?!?!?!

Also, if you intermittent fast, this drink is totally okay to have while fasting. If you aren’t a fan of black coffee but need your caffeine fix in the morning, this could be what you’ve been missing.

There many ways you can prepare yerba mate. And there are two slightly different ways that I will show you today, both methods are sugar-free and delicious.

Method 1: Sugar-Free Yerba Mate Iced Tea with Lemon Juice and Stevia

Ingredients:

  • Yerba Mate Tea
  • Lemon juice
  • Liquid Stevia

Recipe:

Single Cup:

  1. Brew a cup of yerba mate tea. Strain if needed.
  2. Add 1 tsp lemon juice and liquid stevia to taste. (Less is always more, be sure to taste it and add flavor accordingly)
  3. Stir to combine
  4. Pour over ice.

Large Batch Brew:

  1. Seep 1/2 cup of loose yerba mate, with approximately 7 cups of hot water. Let sit for at least 5-10 minutes.
  2. Using a strainer and a paper towel, strain mate leaves out of water.
  3. Add 2 tbsp lemon juice and liquid stevia to taste.
  4. Stir to combine.
  5. Refrigerate until ready to drink.

Method 2: Sugar-Free Yerba Mate Tea with Lemon Electrolytes

Ingredients:

  • Yerba Mate tea
  • Ultima Hydrating Electrolyte Powder, Lemonade (Less is always more, be sure to try it and add flavor according to your own tastes)

Recipe:

Single Cup:

  1. Brew a cup of yerba mate tea. Cool with ice
  2. Add 1/2 tsp of lemonade electrolyte (Less is always more, be sure to try it and add flavor according to your tastes)
  3. Stir to combine
  4. Pour over ice.

Large Batch Brew:
